Getting Aura Photography in Denver, CO

I’ve been fascinated by aura photography lately. I guess it makes sense, as a photographer driven by the desire to go beyond skin deep and see someone’s spirit. 

This summer, my BFF Melissa came to visit so we decided to try aura photography in Denver. We checked out the Aura Weaver popup at Ritual Cravt, located in Wheat Ridge, a cozy suburb just outside Denver, CO.

What is an Aura Photo?

Have you ever heard of Kirlian photography? Maybe you’ve seen a picture. 

Kirlian photography captures electrical coronal discharges of a subject connected to a high-voltage source. Don’t worry – it’s not enough to be dangerous! 

Essentially, an aura photo is a Kirlian photo of a living being! Your electrical coronal discharge emanates from your body in an ‘aura’ visible when the film is connected to you via conductors. 

Many believe this electrical coronal discharge represents one’s aura, qi (or chi), and energy – different cultures and traditions have different words for it.

I find aura reading to be a fascinating tool for introspection & insight into your past, present, or future. 

How Do You Take an Aura Photo?

To take an aura photo, there are 2 parts. 

First, you sit down, placing your hands on boxes with metal hand prints on them. In front of you is a camera with a light, which takes the photo. This process only takes a millisecond.

Second, the hand boxes process your aura. This part takes longer, so after your photo is taken, you sit for a few more seconds. 

When Melissa and I did our joint aura reading, we each placed our outer hand on one of the boxes. I stood on the left, so my left hand rested on the left box, while her right hand touched the right box.

The Aura Reading Denver

Once the film gets developed, it’s time for the reading!

The reader uses colors & shapes to reveal your aura to you. 

But before the aura reading, our reader used an animal spirit oracle deck to first pull a card and read the description for that animal.

My animal spirit card pulled was a Phoenix. An animal of transformation, rebirth, and refinement in the fire. I’ve just undergone a major physical change and I can feel it trigger a spiritual transformation into more ease & gratitude in all parts of my life. I resonated so strongly with her reading!

Here’s my aura photo:

I was most fascinated by the small dots around and over me. My reader revealed these were spirit guides (the purple ones outside) and my ancestors (the red and purple over my body). 

Hearing this, tears sprung to my eyes, as that bright red spot of support was emanating from my late grandmother’s necklace and resting right over my heart. I miss my grandmothers and it’s comforting to be reminded of their existence. 

Here’s our joint aura below. Isn’t it so beautiful!? We were explained that these colors signified trust, loyalty, intuition, love, inspiration, and creativity — all beautiful things I share with my best friend.

My Aura Experience

The aura photography Denver experience was interesting, energizing, and illuminating. Our reader explained how it acts as a mirror, reflecting the dominant qualities shaping our lives. It also highlights areas where we can cultivate greater trust or focus on healing and growth.

Learning about how color can reveal & evoke certain energies or emotional states, got me thinking about my own space. I’ve since revisited Feng Sui principles around color meaning & placement to kick-start my home office decoration. I also ordered some new curtains and pillows to re-energize the space.
