Some Of My Favorite Boudoir Outfits I’ve Photographed Recently 

Outfits, outfits, outfits. I absolutely love playing with different styles of clothing during a boudoir shoot. My fave part, however, has to be getting to know my client through their wardrobe choices.

What you choose to wear is an informal introduction to the world about your personality, your interests, beliefs, and even your mood that day! It can be a ton of fun. But during most of the week, you might have to style yourself for a specific setting: work, school, meetings etc. 

What is one place you can completely let loose with your fashion? A boudoir photoshoot, of course! 

What To Wear To A Boudoir Photo Shoot 

Whenever a client asks me, “what should I wear to my boudoir shoot?” my response is pretty simple: whatever makes you feel confident! 

Simple, but true! My wardrobe rule is please don’t bring outfits that you don’t love. If you didn’t like it at home or in the shop, I promise you won’t suddenly love it in the studio. Swap it for something that makes you feel sexy, confident, and comfortable!

Feeling sexy will be different for every single woman.  There is a huge variety of outfits that look fantastic in a boudoir photo shoot. Most people assume that for a boudoir photo shoot you have to wear a matching lingerie set. While you most definitely can take that traditional route, there are many other approaches!

If you love the matching lingerie set look, amazing! I encourage you to get your bra fitted by a professional ahead of the shoot for proper fit and consider selecting sets in colors you’re drawn to. 

But, maybe you feel sexiest in a big t-shirt and cute brief-style boxers. Or maybe your soul sings in a curve-hugging body suit.  There are many “non-traditional” approaches you can take, including adding fun accessories or funky clothing pieces. 

The other thing about different styles and outfits is their ability to highlight various moods or sides that you want to flaunt during your shoot – from sensual, to soft, to playful and confident!

Some Recent Outfits I’ve Loved

I love working with my interesting clients to see what looks they style for their shoot. Also, if styling & fashion is not really your thing – do not worry! We can work together to style you out.

1. This sheer bodysuit from Thistle and Spire. 

Okay, firstly, if you aren’t familiar with Thistle and Spire, let me introduce you. They are a totally bad-ass, female-founded clothing company based in Brooklyn that is out here challenging the status quo through their daring looks designed to include everyone, regardless of size, shape, complexion, orientation, gender, age or ability. 

Oftentimes when you purchase an item from them, they donate a percentage to the ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) who are fighting for a more just USA. 

This bodysuit is by them, and I love how effortlessly sexy it is. It is completely sheer but still allows for significant coverage with the embroidery. It also has a cheeky thong panty to accentuate that booty. 

2. A Royal Moment

Um…Why not wear a crown!?  Elevate your shoot with a golden goddess crown, which completely takes this more simple, strappy black bodysuit into a showstopper. I love that we paired it with a body chain too, for a little more texture.

3. Chill & Chic

Drake said it best when he sang, “sweatpants, hair tied, chillin’ with no make-up on, that’s when you’re the prettiest…” 

(If you’re a no-makeup gal, we can go for a natural makeup look to accentuate your features for the camera 😉 

But seriously, I love this look. Simple, sexy, timeless and does not require a big purchase before your shoot, as you likely already have these pieces in your closet.

4. Fun & Flirty

If you’re someone who loves to express themselves through color and funky pieces, you’ve come to the right place! We had a lot of fun during this shoot where the client wore rainbow sheer fishnets, paired with bright happy/sad acrylic earrings and a matching yellow choker (very 90s!) 

5. Magical & Matching 

Please, a moment for this matching strappy bra and panty set!!! I am a sucker for a traditional matching set, especially in this subtle and gorgeous shade of blue that is beautifully complemented with a sexy hint of lace and mesh.

6. Body-ody-ody-chain

For this shot, the booty is the main character (as it should be).

This really is a complete look: a simple black thong paired with a camera-catching, glistening body chain. The body chains you see here are available in my Bonus accessories closet for clients.

7. LBD 

I love this look. We dusted off the client’s flattering tight, black bodycon dress and paired it with alluring black fishnets. Most women have a little black dress in their closet right?! Simple yet irresistible.

8. A Silky Robe 

There is nothing sexier than a silk robe paired with a pair of sheer, silky high-waisted panties, like this look! It comes across so well on camera and I love how elegant this look is.

10. Casual & Meaningful

I LOVE when my clients bring in highly personal items. These clothing or jewelry pieces often hold cherished memories and add a personal touch to your photos.

This client had a long running joke with her husband about how she stole his Ghostbusters shirt, and they bonded a lot over Ghostbusters. She went out and bought a new t shirt (the old one was, well, pretty old-looking) for her boudoir photoshoot. She was worried it would be too corny, but it ended up looking SO sexy and authentic in her photos.

9. Just The Skin!

If you feel ready for it, let’s show off your body! There are plenty of poses and little tricks I have up my sleeves to maintain modesty (or not!) A bonus for this is you can show off your artwork, aka tattoos!

What Will You Wear? 

Let’s finish this blog with something that might surprise you: what you wear is the least important part of your day! 

While it’s true that we want you to wear something that will make you feel your best,  the reality is that the shoot is all about highlighting your beautiful body & posing you. 

The wardrobe is not the main event of the shoot – you are! 

This is why I’m genuinely stoked to shoot you in a flowy sheet, scarf, tee-shirt or a matching set – whatever makes you feel your absolute best. 

As long as it fits and feels physically comfortable, we’ll be able to pull out the sexy, confident, badass you!
