Admit it – packing for an upcoming trip is part of the fun! Packing always takes place a few days before you leave, and as you unzip your bag and start to make piles of what you want to take with you, the reality of the upcoming fun, joy, relaxation, and adventure is imminent! Okay, okay, fine, I admit, it can be a little stressful, too. 😉
Packing for your upcoming boudoir photoshoot can have the same exhilarating effect, as you reach for the items that you’ll need for your incredibly special day. It might not be a holiday, but the photoshoot will still feel like a whirlwind trip!

Style It Out
First Item(s) to Pack: Outfits
Outfits are a super fun part of the process and a chance for you to play dress up for the day!
When’s the last time you got to do that?! There are so many options based on your desire:
Bring out your inner girly girl with frills and chiffon
Show off your sassy side with a sexy, cheeky panty set with high heels
Make a devilish nod to your inner dark side with dark makeup & leather lingerie
I always encourage my clients to bring options. I am secretly – or maybe not so secretly – an incredible stylist and thoroughly enjoy helping out clients with pairing together the perfect look. My biggest advice when it comes to clothes: if you don’t love how an item looks at home, you will not like it the day of the shoot at the studio! Just like when we overpack for holidays with stuff we know we won’t wear, (guilty…why would we ever need 15 dresses for 5 days!?!?) don’t bring items that don’t make you feel badass and confident. Just don’t. Most of my clients bring between 3-6 outfits, which is usually just right.
Accessorize
Second Item(s) to Pack: Accessories
Accessories can really complete outfit! So, don’t forget to pack your favorite complimentary items as they will stand out beautifully in the photographs.
Accessories can range from statement rings to subtle pearl earrings, to dangly necklaces, you name it!
Shoes should be whatever you feel best in. I love both, but honestly we go barefoot most of the time! If you’re a shoe girl, definitely bring your fave pairs but if not, don’t even worry about it.
Notice how I said accessories and not props!? There’s no need to pack props like construction hats, jerseys, military apparel, masks, weapons, sports equipment, or the like. Honestly, they tend to make photos look outdated! Our focus is on you and your relationship with your body and heart, not on props.
The Unconventional Boudoir Photoshoot Packing List Item
Third Item to Pack: Something to do on the lunch break!
Have a coffee and tasty breakfast in advance of your photoshoot – you’ll need good fuel to be a model all day long. Do not skip breakfast because it’s photoshoot day. I will have water (still & sparkling), tea, snacks & chocolates for you at the studio to nibble on throughout the day.
I always encourage clients to wear something comfy & cozy to get to the studio – this will help you relax and, importantly, won’t cause tight marks on your skin from waistbands or tight bras.
Please pack a book, journal, or something you can do during our break while I edit between the photoshoot and the viewing & ordering session. This is to encourage you to be reflective of your incredible session, rather than scroll mindlessly.
I encourage you to come as you are: showered, clean, well-slept, completely makeup-free, moisturized (NO SPF) face and body. Have clean, dry hair ready to be styled by the wonderful professional makeup artist and hairstylist! You can have conditioner or serum in your hair, but no gel, mousse, hairspray, etc.
Wear socks after your morning shower, especially if it’s summer and you’re a sandal person.
Also, bring your personality & uniqueness! I can’t wait to get to know you.
By the way, if your idea of self-care is getting an hour of silence in during hair & makeup, let me know you’d love a quiet morning.
Oh, and please be on time. Just like you wouldn’t be late for the holiday you pack for, don’t be late for your big photoshoot day! Plan ahead, check traffic and route out your way to the studio in advance to avoid any delays.
