How To Explain To Your Mother That You’re Not A P0 rn Star

“Hey Mom…before Auntie forwards you a picture of me, I am calling to let you know that no, I have not quit my job and no, I am not a porn star!” Have you had to have a conversation with your protective parents?! I’ve got to admit, I didn’t realize this was a common thing happening with clients – but here we are! Some people just don’t know how to explain boudoir to mom!

The boudoir images we take at Embodied Art Studio are 100% real, sensual, and artistic. There are some people out there who will be stunned at how “scandalous” or “risqué” they are, or a betrayal of ethics or morals. I get it, some parents may be a little shocked to see their baby so confident while wearing little to no clothing, but it’s not the same thing. 

Full disclosure – I fully support the rights of sex workers and pornstars to do what they do! This is a lighthearted blog post poking fun at family members being scandalized when you reclaim your body, sexuality, and fun!

Hey, Mom? 

Here are some ways to approach your beautiful boudoir photoshoot with your family and – hopefully – bring their heart rate back down!

“Since (insert life event here) I haven’t felt at home in my body. I wanted to do this photoshoot to help me feel confident again.”

“I wanted to challenge myself, step out of my comfort zone and do something different. No one is even going to see the photos but me and whoever I choose to share them with.”

“I am not a porn star. Do you think I’d even tell you if I was?!”

“What was that saying you taught me when I was kid…if you don’t have anything nice to say, don’t say anything at all. Well, Mom, time for your own advice!!”

“No, I’m not trying to ruin Grandma’s Holidays/Birthday/(insert event), but I wanted to give myself a gift for once.”

A Little Photo Never Killed Nobody

Of course, these ideas are intended to be tongue in cheek but hey – maybe they’ll come in handy for those worried parents!?

Back to you & your moment – you can commemorate and celebrate your non-porn star shoot with a Collection: 

Albums: Albums offer you 20-50+ photos in the size of your choice, ranging from 8×8 to 12×12 and you can pick the material of the album to your liking. So, I guess you can be a sexy centrefold after all! 😉 Just don’t tell mom! 

Wall Art: Stand out with wall art that can adorn your wall. What a feast for the eyes! These come in acrylic or metal and range in size from 8×12 – 40 x 60! Maybe not the best choice if you still live at home 😉
