How to Embrace Your Sensuality Through Boudoir Photography

Let’s kick this off with a question for you to ponder: what do you think about when you think about embracing your sensuality?

A typical answer: sex.

Our minds tend to naturally gravitate towards sex when considering sensuality. This is because the majority of us have not received guidance on exploring our unique sensuality, nurturing it, or developing a connection with self-awareness.

As women, we have not typically been taught how to embrace our sensuality as society loves to discourage this.

What Is Sensuality & Why Embrace It

Sure, sensuality is connected to sex—but it is more than that. It is connected to the idea of pleasure, confidence & embodiment. It extends to MUCH more than sex. Many things in life can be pleasurable without sexual desire!

Being in touch with sensuality can increase your sexual desires but for the sake of this blog, we are going to talk about how embracing sensuality is more about life’s simple pleasures, such as sipping a morning coffee, slipping into the bath after a long day, receiving a massage, spritzing a delicious perfume, leaning into a wonderful yoga pose, the sun on your skin, doing a boudoir photoshoot… the list goes on.

It can be any activity that supports you in feeling present, connected to your senses & rooted at the moment.

As women, we are told our whole life to cover up, be quiet, sit down, & lessen ourselves. But when we do that….we lose touch with ourselves, our femininity, so our sensuality & our true essence can float away. And for what!? To make other people feel comfortable, to please others & fit into some bogus mould crafted by society! I say its time to rebel against that.

But, the real beauty of embracing sensuality? You can define what it means to you. You can get to pick what your sensuality is. Not what it is to someone else—but to yourself. This means not what a partner/date finds sexy or sensual about you, but how you choose to be & how you embrace the feeling.

Sensuality starts with how you feel in your body. Your body today, right now, is complete with any “flaws” or “imperfections.”  Embracing sensuality begins with listening closely to how your body feels, what feels good & what activities increase that great feeling.  There are many ways to embrace this—including a boudoir photoshoot!

embrace Your Sensuality With A Boudoir Photoshoot

Setting up an entire day to focus on your body, connecting to your sensual side is a beautiful thing and possible with a boudoir photoshoot.

Throughout the day, there will be a culmination of special little moments that will continuously make you aware of your beautiful body & its power. A boudoir shoot will help you tap into your sensuality while building confidence that supports you in embracing all that you are, rather than seeking validation from anyone else. Tapping into your sensuality is all about YOU.

The shoot will allow you to connect to yourself in a safe way where you feel good while remaining true to yourself & showcasing your personality.

There are lots of ways to do this:

Outfits

It’s not every day that we get to wear a sexy number that makes us feel fine!!!

Contrary to popular opinion, you don’t have to wear lingerie or stereotypical boudoir outfits for your shoot. Instead, I encourage you to wear whatever makes you feel damn good. You should wear something that fits well in a color that makes your skin & features pop. Every time you look in the mirror I want you to think “That’s me!” It sure is.

If you’re feeling it, tap into your wild, more sexual side by wearing jaw-dropping outfits such as matching lingerie or going nude!

Poses

Specific poses will make you feel more connected to your body & sensual side. I will be there to help coach you so you can embody that feeling. You know…an arched back, crossed legs, a proud, pumped-out chest. You get the idea 😉

Boudoir Style

Certain boudoir styles, particularly silhouette, nude-scape, and shower sets are extra spicy! Doing these sexy shots can help you to embody your sensual side with ease, as the tone is set by the style of the photograph.

The Emotional Side

At my studio, we do things a little differently. It’s never about just a “sexy shoot,” it’s a guided experience where I use mindfulness practices and body language to help you embrace tap into the emotions behind your sensual side. I will support you with breathing techniques, mindful awareness, and even demonstrations to help you *tap* into the feelings of pleasure, desire, & being present—not just looking sexy. I want you to FEEL sexy and I want that feeling to last, long after you leave my studio.
