Liz & Naz are one of those couples that just makes you smile from being around them. We had so much fun during this Horsetooth Reservoir elopement inspiration shoot, right outside Fort Collins, CO. I wrote about their engagement photos in an earlier post and this is where their journey continues that night.
The beautiful reservoir, dramatic cliffs, and proximity to civilization makes it an each choice for couples who want an easy but worthwhile elopement location. I’d love to serve you in your LGBT wedding.
This story is about Liz & Naz – you may have already met them in my post about their hiking engagement shoot! After the Horsetooth Mountain Park we continued on to Horsetooth Reservoir, a place that is near and dear to their hearts.
It was a long, hot day, so we were all a teensy bit pooped by the time we arrived. Despite that, they never got short or impatient with each other. If anything, I felt like Liz & Naz took the opportunity to relax further into each other and enjoy the energy and support they receive from each other.
The Horsetooth Reservoir is an amazing lake surrounded by dramatic cliffs and ancient trees located just a few minutes outside of Fort Collins, CO.
This was my first time spending time here and I have to say – I LOVE IT! Earlier in the day when I was checking out locations I was enviously watching the people in the reservoir. I saw plenty of people kayaking, jetskiing, and boating. On this epically hot July day, jumping into the reservoir from a boat sounded like pure perfection!
This particular location was really special to Naz. As a former climber who had to scale back on climbing because her hands are too important to her work as a massage therapist, Horsetooth Reservoir is an important place to her. This is one of the first places she climbed and fell in love with Colorado and Fort Collins after moving here from Texas.
What better place to commemorate her engagement to the woman she fell in love with here in Fort Collins!
A Horsetooth Reservoir elopement is perfect for couples who want to be out in nature, but still close to town for easy amenities like restaurants and hotels.
After a steep climb to our location, we made it! Once the sun hit the horizon and we got some relief from its intense rays, we were ready to explore this special part of the reservoir.
We relished the views of a gorgeous, golden sunset with gnarled old trees and dramatic cliffs serving as our playground.
Liz & Naz cuddled, danced, and drank in each others’ company during this breathtaking evening. I was blown away by how much they get from each other and how clearly their love for one another shines through.
By this time, we had been working together for a while and Liz & Naz felt comfortable suggesting places and poses that they wanted.
This is so welcome! After all, your relationship, your elopement, your engagement – it’s all about you two. I am here to facilitate and encourage the capture of that, so if there’s anything that you really really want – speak up! I am so happy to work with you to capture your vision and anything special and fun that captures you two best. After all, you two are the experts on your unique relationship.
After it got dark, we were all a little tired and hungry so we headed over to The Mayor of Old Town, the oldest restaurant in Fort Collins, to enjoy a meal together. We downed some delicious Impossible burgers and yummy beer from Belgium. I really loved connecting with these two and value our time both with the camera and without.
