This High Point Garden of the Gods Wedding was absolutely STUNNING with an all-black wedding party wardrobe against the stunning red rock formations and Pike’s Peak. Thinking of having an intimate wedding at GotG? Read on for tips & inspiration!
This story is about Sarah & Dan, a mega-in-love couple from Florida who chose the unique red rocks of Garden of the Gods for their intimate wedding. These two wanted the adventure of an elopement but couldn’t imagine eloping without their chosen family – a group of their favorite humans on Earth that they were lucky enough to find in this lifetime.
Can you relate? If the freedom and adventure of eloping appeals to you, an intimate wedding like Sarah & Dan’s might be right up your alley. My biggest tip as a wedding & elopement photographer is to be really intentional about your guest list – make sure everyone who will be with you is there to support you and celebrate your love! That’s how you’ll have an incredible day like Sarah & Dan’s!
Turns out these two are huge Star Wars fans, so I thought it was an auspicious sign when I spotted a Yoda “May the Force Be With You” sticker on a car in the parking lot! What do you think?
These two had a long and relaxed morning with their chosen family at their nearby Airbnb before their late-afternoon wedding ceremony at High Point.
Also can I tell you how this girl didn’t even bring shoes to her wedding?? She was barefoot the whole time because she wanted to be free on her wedding day, and I love it!! Don’t be afraid to do what you want, not what you should.
If you’re looking for a stunning and otherworldly, yet convenient and accessible elopement or intimate wedding venue, look no further than Garden of the Gods.
The location cannot be beat – right in the city of Colorado Springs, an hour from Denver, and an hour and a half to Denver International Airport (DIA). There are a lot of great Airbnb’s nearby. Just make sure to ask permission from the owner before booking if you plan to have a lot of invited guests and vendors like catering!
High Point is my personal favorite location for an intimate wedding at Garden of the Gods. It’s a bit more out-of-the way than the other designated ceremony spots in the park, so there are fewer people around. But beware: Garden of the Gods is a VERY popular spot that gets very crowded, so I urge all couples to consider eloping here only on a weekend or a sunrise, if you want to be that kind of adventurous!
High Point is also one of the handicap accessible ceremony locations in GotG! And it’s got an incredible backdrop over the red rocks of the park and Pike’s Peak, a local landmark.
Sarah & Dan loved how they were able to bring in a couple chairs for their parents, who couldn’t walk or stand for long and STILL have such a stunning backdrop for their ceremony!
PS – Did I mention it’s FREE? That’s right – there’s no cost (or reservation system) to getting married here! There are group size limits and designated ceremony locations for weddings.
