Boudoir Alibis: What to Tell Your Partner or Coworkers About Where You’ll Be Next Tuesday
A lot of my clients like to keep their intimate boudoir photoshoot hush hush… I mean, do you really want to share with your boss/coworkers you’re going to be posing in lingerie! Yeah…probably not. No one needs that kind of mental image floating around!
Or, maybe you want to keep it a secret for more *wholesome* reasons! Plenty of clients love to gift their sexy boudoir album to their partner as a surprise for an anniversary, wedding, or birthday. (I always send your new client welcome gift in discreet packaging without my business name juuust in case!)
But if you work from home, you can’t use “going to work” as a cover for you shoot!
Enter: the alibis!
Of course, you’re well within your rights to not share the real reason for your time/day off – BUT sometimes we need a softer approach, especially if you’re on friendly terms with coworkers!
So here’s a creative little list of excuses you can steal, from the reasonable to the silly, to give you some ideas to keep your boudoir day discreet!

The Best Boudoir Alibis to Use at Work
If you work in an office, this becomes niiiiice & easy if keeping yur shoot it from your lover. You can just sneak your outfits to the car the night before, and your partner will be none the wiser!! Plus, boudoir days begin promptly at 10am and typically wrap up around 3-5pm — just a like a typical workday.

But what about that nosey boss or coworker?! Here’s what to tell your boss when you have to ask for the day off work…
- I have a comprehensive eye exam right in the middle of the day, and won’t be able to use my computer after.
- I’ve scheduled multiple medical appointments over 2 days to be less disruptive to work (you might want that second day to actually do the DR appts)
- I have very important family visiting and I’m going to spend time with them
- I’m taking a mental health/wellness day for some much-needed self-care. This is perfect if your company values mental health. I mean… you’re prioritizing yourself, while leaving out the detail that self-care involves a camera and lingerie 😉
- I’m viewing an apartment/house and this is the only time they can accommodate me.
- I’ve got a REALLY important delivery or service coming to my house that I need to be at home for. You can say its a furniture delivery or a tech installation.
- I volunteer for ______ and theirs an annual event that I have to take part in. (be careful using this if your company has a matching volunteer program that requires you to share proof about your participation.
- There is a maintenance person coming to do major works to my house and I must be there to help out.
If you don’t work in an office, I still recommend taking the day off completely from work. You won’t really be available to answer messages during the day. Plus, your Boudoir Day is YOUR day of self-care, self-connection, and celebration.

The Best Boudoir Alibis For Your Significant Other
All the lovely, clever hubbies/wives/boyfriend/girlfriend/partners who are caring and interested in your life…can make things tricky!
These are the types of white lies that can be worthwhile! If you know surprising your will make your lover beam – its okay!
Here are some fun ways to keep your boudoir day a secret for your gf/bf:
- If you dont usually do your hair & makeup, let them know you’re taking a hair & makeup lesson with some girlfriends and getting lunch
- I’m going wedding dress shopping
- I’m doing my wedding hair & makeup trial
- I’m going to be a beauty school model for apprentices who need practice
- I did a makeup lesson at Sephora just for fun
- I need to go into the office today (if you’re a hybrid/remote worker)
- Its my friends birthday so we’re having a special girls day
- Plan it for a day your partner is out of town to avoid needing an alibi.
- I need to do important errands, so I’ll be out of the house and getting many tasks done.
- I’m helping a family member with a personal matter.
- I have a friend from college in town that I’m seeing today.

BTW – if you know that wearing make up will raise alarm bells, I have makeup remover wipes in the studio for you to use.
Take it to the next level with an accountability buddy – have a friend to be your alibi in case your partner is really suspicious!
The 100% Honest Boudoir Alibi
Don’t feel comfortably lying to your partner, even for a fun surprise gift?
Thats completely okay. All couples have a different baseline for communication, secrets/surprises, and how much/what is shared between the couple.
Surprises that feel fun in one couple could feel like betrayal in another! You know your relationship best, so choose what works for you!
If you’re in a relationship where you and your partner share EVERYTHING, go ahead and tell them about your boudoir session so they can be excited with you! They can even help you choose sexy & fun outfits, which can be really entertaining with an enthusiastic & supportive partner.

Plenty of my clients tell their partners about their boudoir session in order to build the suspense & surprise for the album reveal. Why not amp things up and plan a fun date or overnight trip to a hotel for the actual album reveal! Fun tip – wear lingerie from the photoshoot under your outfit for a double, extra sexy reveal!
If you want to be totally truthful, but still want the whole boudoir photoshoot a surprise until the album reveal, just tell your spouse:
“I’m getting you a surprise for…(our anniversary, your birthday, etc). It will take me all day Wednesday / from around 9am to around 4-6pm to get your surprise ready.”
Then, you can customize the reveal…
- Either use a makeup remover wipe to hide clues that may reveal your surprise
- Plan a romantic date night with your wifey or hubby after your session! Tell them to meet you at a lovely restaurant at 6 pm – tell them to dress up since you’ll be glammed up!
- Cook their favorite meal at home in a cutesy outfit to flaunt your makeup & hair and light some candles
What idea do you love the most?!
