Some people come to their boudoir photoshoot with inspiration, but majority have little idea of what they want. They may appreciate the art of boudoir, they aren’t familiar with all the varied styles.

I’ve written this post to highlight one stunning style option: bodyscape photography.

What Is Bodyscape Photography?

Bodyscapes, also known as nudescape or high contrast nudes, uses bright light & sharp deep shadows to establish a dramatic, almost monochrome effect.

Only the edges of the body’s form are carefully illuminated, creating a stunning curved line across the image.

The Different Bodyscapes Photography Styles & Inspiration

1. Abstract

Abstract bodyscapes photography has a way of making you do a double take, as it’s not always clear you’re looking at a human body.

At first glance, you might even think you’re seeing a graceful mountain or an amazing landscape. These shots are particularly striking when the model is nude, allowing the natural lines and curves of the body to blend seamlessly into the abstract form.

2. High Detail

High detail is gorgeous. It’s perfect for depicting a deeply artistic portrait of your lips, collarbones, back, and other small areas of your body. It’s a stunning way to highlight your butt, boobs, or lips.

3. Shadows

Different fabrics, shapes, and body parts can create interesting shadows on your skin, creating an almost ethereal, attention-grabbing effect in bodyscapes photography. I love using lace to cast shadows – if you have a lacy scarf or shirt with a beautiful pattern, we can incorporate that into your nudescape photoshoot.

4. Props

Incorporating suitable, small props can add a playful & unique touch to your bodyscape boudoir shoot. Think… drizzling honey down your skin or placing little berries like cherries or grapes to create a sexy, artistic effect. Body chains are also a sweet addition, beautifully enhancing the body’s curves and contours, making them a standout element.

What Should I Wear For A Bodyscape Photography Session?

The first option is to go nude, baby! Nudescapes are stunning with the unbroken light line shining down the length of the body.

But, its not necessary to be nude and you can still get that stunning effect akin to bodyscaping photography.

So if you don’t want to go nude, what do you wear?! Here are some suggestions:

  • A skin toned thong with no top
  • A bra & panty set
  • Stockings & heels
  • Body chains
  • Jewelled pasties
  • Silk, satin, or chiffon

I love this look from Molly – a strappy black bra, thong, and garter belt/harness, with silver metal accents.
