An Artist Journey Update
Back in June, I shared about my time with the Stripped Down class, which I’m currently enrolled in — for the third time. In this blog, I will break it all down for you!

My Update On The Stripped Down Course
The class focuses on how to coach my boudoir photography clients for authentic & expressive personality, expression, and body language.
I want all of my clients to feel comfortable and able to express themselves freely, displaying a range of emotions from sensual to silly.

Whenever I’m at a bridal fair or other big events, I inevitably have people approach my booth, commenting how my images just “look different” from other boudoir photography they’d seen before… which means the world to me! Ive tried really hard to get to this point.
So, credit where credit is due!
Much of the reason my work looks the way it looks is thanks to the Stripped Down methodology I’ve learned. And of course, I bring my personality & influences to the mix, like any other artist. Im so grateful for it all.
As for the course itself, we’re around ⅔ of the way through.
So far, we’ve discussed in great detail:
- Art history
- Body language in art
- The neuroscience behind body language
- Embodying body language of the different core emotions (joy, coy, pleasure, desire, longing, confidence, etc)
- Taking selfies for homework, which my teacher then critiques (this is the one I procrastinated the most and I must admit: turned in late)
- Practicing in the mirror
- Practice photoshoot with a subject to coach joy & confidence – which my teacher will also critique
This week, the focus for my practice photoshoot is pleasure & desire. Fun! 🔥

This boudoir photography style quiz will entertain & inspire you…and maybe be that next step you need to feel confident for your boudoir photography session!
Leveling Up My Skills
Since this is my third time taking this class, I decided to give myself some extra little challenges. (Yep, this nerd totally goes for the extra credit)
What can I say, I love to keep learning! To uplevel my skills I’ve been practicing:
- Using fewer words while coaching — more body language communication
- Communicating joy without being able to see the subject’s face
- Communicating confidence without eye contact
- Communicating grumpiness or even anger is not a typical “boudoir” emotion. But I love the badass/scary vibe & realness
I’m going to find ways to challenge myself with all the remaining emotions too – pleasure, desire, longing, and confidence. Find ways to make the body language so real that I can break some rules.
I welcome any challenges about those emotions you want to toss my way!
Anyways, that’s where I’m at!

The Ups and Downs of Stripped Down
It’s been a rollercoaster ride, especially, dun dun dun…Selfie Week.
Our whole class struggles during Selfie Week, so it takes a lot of community encouragement to get each other back on track.
I’m grateful for the Stripped Down community and for the opportunity to work with my teacher one last time before she retires.
And it’s so much fun to up level my skills!! All my clients right now are getting extra special galleries with lots of oomph!
It’s not too late to experience this magic, vibey, boudoir experience this year… I’ve got two spots left for Boudoir Days in December. (All artwork is guaranteed to arrive pre Xmas)
Just comment below if you want one of those coveted spots!
