Embracing Body Positivity Through Breathwork and Bodywork: A Journey at Bloom & Breath Bodywork

This is a guest blog post from Juliette Cortez

At Bloom & Breath Bodywork, the core of my practice revolves around helping clients reconnect
with their bodies, fostering a deep sense of body positivity and mindfulness. This journey of
connection, healing, and empowerment is deeply personal, not just for the clients I serve but
also for myself as a practitioner.

Body positivity isn’t just about appreciating your appearance—it’s about building a relationship
with your body based on trust, compassion, and respect. For many, this means learning to listen
to the subtle cues our bodies send us, recognizing areas of tension or stress, and giving
ourselves permission to rest and heal.

Through the combination of bodywork and breathwork, I help my clients unlock their bodies’ natural healing potential and discover a renewed sense of ease and confidence in their physical selves.

With each session, I see my clients bloom, growing into a deeper connection with their authentic selves.

Breathwork: A Gateway to Clarity and Resilience

Thích Nhất Hạnh (1926–2022), a renowned Vietnamese Buddhist monk, and one of the most
influential voices in contemporary mindfulness and meditation, beautifully described the
transformative power of mindful breathing. He saw the breath as a vital link between the mind
and body, often referring to it as a “bridge” that anchors us in the present moment and connects
our inner world to the outer experience. One of my favorite quotes from him is:

“Mindful breathing helps us let go of fear, anger, and regret. It brings peace into our
body and mind.”

Breathwork is a powerful tool that bridges the mind and body. When we align our breath with our
mental and physical state, something transformative happens: we gain mental clarity, enhance
our confidence, and build resilience to face life’s challenges.

For my clients, this means cultivating a breathing practice that calms the nervous system, heightens self-awareness, and fosters a sense of control in their daily lives.

Nhất Hạnh’s teachings resonate deeply with the work I do, as they highlight how something as simple as conscious breathing can unlock profound inner peace and clarity.

Personally, breathwork has been a cornerstone in my own journey toward body positivity. By
learning to breathe in harmony with my body, I’ve discovered how to trust it more deeply, even in
moments of stress or self-doubt. This practice reminds me to approach my body with kindness
and patience, fostering a deeper connection that transforms not just how I feel physically, but
how I relate to myself as a whole.

Self-Love Breath Affirmation

I often encourage my clients to practice the Self-Love Breath Affirmation, which combines breathwork with positive affirmations to enhance body positivity and self-connection. This simple yet powerful exercise helps cultivate a loving relationship with your body, allowing you to bloom into greater self-acceptance and inner peace.

To begin:

  1. Find a quiet, comfortable space to sit
  2. Light incense to ground yourself in the present moment
  3. As you inhale deeply through the nose, silently state “I am enough”
  4. Exhale slowly through your mouth, and silently state, “I am at peace with my body”
  5. Repeat for 3–5 minutes until your body and mind are at peace with one another.

Bodywork: Healing Through Connection

The hands-on techniques I use in bodywork are designed to release tension, increase mobility,
and help clients reconnect with their physical selves. In my personal and professional practice, breathwork and bodywork have helped me bloom in ways I never imagined, inspiring me to share this gift with others.

But bodywork is about more than just relieving discomfort—it’s about helping clients heal their relationships with their bodies. Many people carry stress, trauma, or insecurity in their bodies, and through intentional touch, we can begin to release those burdens and cultivate a new sense of acceptance and self-love.

By combining bodywork with breathwork, my clients often find themselves more attuned to their
bodies’ needs. They discover the confidence to move more freely, live happier lives, and
embrace their unique journeys of self-discovery.

Your Journey Awaits

At Bloom & Breath Bodywork, I believe in creating a safe and supportive space where everyone
can explore what it means to truly connect with their bodies. Whether you’re seeking relief from
