12 Boudoir FAQs You Were Too Shy To Ask

Booking a boudoir session is exciting… and also nerve-racking. Many women show up with the same whirl of questions: What do I wear? What do I do with my face? Is this going to feel weird? Totally normal, truly.

So, in this blog, I’m going to pull the curtains back on the most common questions I get – answered in my Gabby way that makes this whole thing feel a lot less mysterious and a lot more doable! Let’s get into it.

12 Common FAQS

1. Do I bring my own outfits? Will you help me figure out what to bring?

Yes, you’ll bring your outfits, and yes, I’ll help you choose them.

Plan for at least three looks, and toss in a nude or black thong if you have one. After you book, I send over my Boudoir Style & Prep Guide, which has detailed tips, shopping links, and Denver-area recommendations so you’re never guessing or wandering through lingerie racks.

2. Do you include hair and makeup?

Absolutely. Your professional hair & makeup artist handles everything so you can just show up & breathe. We work with all hair textures and all skin tones.

You’ll get a dry style using heat tools (curls, waves, straightening), but no complicated updos or braided styles. They take too long and don’t really fit the flow of a boudoir session anyway. Makeup is fully customized. Most of my clients love a “natural glam,” but if you want a bolder vibe, we’re here for it.

3. Where is the studio?

The studio is in Golden — super easy to get to and blissfully free of downtown parking chaos. You’ll have free, covered parking onsite and plenty of lunch options nearby for your post-session glow feast. Most clients drive 30 minutes or less from Denver, Lakewood, Wheat Ridge, Arvada, or Boulder. Some come from Colorado Springs, Fort Collins, or Summit County for their experience.

4. Is there parking?

Yes. Free. Covered. Close. Zero stress.

5. Will there be any men at my photoshoot? Is the photographer a woman?

No men. Ever.

It’s just me (Gabby, she/her) and your hair & makeup artist, who is always a woman. The space is designed to feel safe, grounded, and private so you can relax into the experience without performing for anyone.

6. I’m nervous.

Nerves are completely normal. You’re stepping into something new, vulnerable, and meaningful. Of course, your body will react to that.

But here’s the good news: I structure your entire boudoir day to ease you into it. You get pampered with hair & makeup, we chat and connect, and then we do a grounding guided meditation. By the time we pick up the camera, most clients feel surprisingly settled and ready.

7. What if I can’t make a “sexy face” or don’t know how to pose?

That’s my job. Fully. I direct every single pose – from your toes to your jawline to your breath. You don’t need to study other people’s photos or practice in the mirror unless that’s fun for you.

I guide your body, facial expressions, energy, and emotions so the images feel like you… just the version that finally gets to be seen.

8. What if I’m not flexible?

You don’t need to be. I customize the poses to what feels good in your body. You might feel sore the next day (boudoir is basically “tiny workout meets modeling”), but you should not hurt during the session.

9. Do I need modeling experience?

Nope. Most of my clients have never been photographed like this before. Some haven’t even taken a selfie they like. You don’t need to know anything; I guide it all.

10. How much does it cost?

The Embodied Art Experience begins at $2,900. This all-inclusive investment includes:
• Professional hair & makeup
• Intention setting and guided meditation
• Fully coached photoshoot experience
• Same-day image reveal and ordering session
• A handcrafted 8×8 album featuring 20 images
• Support & guidance throughout this journey

A $400 deposit is paid at booking to secure your date.

After years of offering à la carte options, I realized most women didn’t want to piece together their experience, they wanted guidance. So I simplified everything into one intentional, all-inclusive offering designed to give you exactly what you need without overwhelm.

Optional upgrades & expanded artwork collections are available if you fall in love with more (which most women do).

Flexible, interest-free pre-session installment plans are available to make your investment manageable and aligned with your timeline.

11. Do you offer payment plans?

Yes. Most clients use them. My in-house pre-session payment plans allow you to pay for your artwork in installments before your photoshoot (similar to old-school layaway). No interest, no fees. You can also use Affirm or Square Pay-in-4 for post-session financing.

12. Can my friend/sister/mom/partner come with me?

I love that you want support, but the session itself is one-person-only.

When someone else is in the room, your attention shifts outward: “Are they bored? Are they judging me? Do I look okay?” and it becomes harder to drop into your own body and experience.

This day is about you, your intention, your growth, and your comfort. But sharing your album later? That can absolutely become a fun reveal-party moment.
